Fruits apply mutations — nothing else

In Mutant Plants Base Defense, fruits are consumables that apply mutations to plants. They are not generic damage potions and they are not grenades. Rainbow Isle Base distributes them through gameplay and codes; this page defines the four fruits named across the August 2026 working set so you can spend them without guessing.

Strategy layer: Fruits and Mutations. Spend order: Fruits Priority. Situation ranks: Mutations Tier List. Parent: Items Hub.

Void Fruits

What they are: Mutation fruits oriented toward shifting a keeper into a stronger mid/late contribution profile. Code sources: BUGFIX652 (5), RELEASE2 (10). Good on: Merged S/A keepers that already proved lane value. Bad on: Temporary fillers you will replace after the next roll streak.

Void packs look generous after RELEASE2. Treat them as a season budget. Apply one, evaluate waves, then decide.

Venom Fruits

What they are: Mutation fruits that excel when sustained pressure and post-contact finishing matter. Code source: BUGFIX154 (5). Good on: Finisher plants when soft DPS is the wipe cause. Bad on: Boards that are actually failing to Range / fast leaks — raise Range (cap 20) first via Base Upgrades.

Venom plus Attack Speed (cap 25) is a common mid-game conversion path.

Shadow Fruits

What they are: Specialist mutation fruits. Code source: BUGFIX56954 (5). Good on: Proven plants when anchors already exist and you can name the specialist gap. Bad on: First fruit of the account when you still lack a merge core (How to Merge Plants).

Shadow is easy to overrate because the name sounds elite. It is still a fruit — scarce and easy to waste.

Reversion Fruits

What they are: Reset / recovery fruits for mutation experiments that failed. Code source: RELEASE3 (10). Good on: Otherwise perfect keepers stuck with a bad mutation outcome. Bad on: Random clicking because the stack feels large.

Reversion is insurance. Most of your RELEASE3 stock should sit untouched while you learn the mutation system.

How to use fruits in the client loop

Exact backpack UI labels can shift after patches, but the decision loop should not:

  1. Redeem via Shop → Codes → Verify (How to Redeem Codes).
  2. Confirm counts (Loadout Checklist).
  3. Select a keeper that survived multiple waves (Plants Tier List).
  4. Apply one fruit with a hypothesis.
  5. Play several waves before the next fruit.

If UPD follow-ups change fruit UX, re-read UPD-0.5 and Patch Notes.

Fruits versus other items

ItemJob
FruitMutate a plant
GemUpgrade Zone / rolls (Gems and Currency)
Flame/Frozen GrenadeAoE window (Grenades)

Do not spend fruits because a density spike scared you — that is a grenade decision (How to Use Grenades).

Economy tips

  • Codes are the fastest free fruit injection; track new ones with How to Get New Codes.
  • Gems still matter because mutations on a soft Upgrade Zone underperform.
  • Secret plants can be fruit targets later, not instantly (How to Get Secret Plants).
  • Anyone offering fruit dupe scripts is a safety problem (Script Safety).

Fruit banking between sessions

Fruit stacks survive across sessions, which means you can redeem every code tonight and still refuse to mutate until tomorrow’s keeper is obvious. That patience is a skill. Write the plant name you are waiting for, keep Reversion sealed, and ignore the urge to “just try Void” on a B-tier bridge unit. When you return, re-open Loadout Checklist, confirm counts, and only then apply a single fruit. If the next wave cluster still looks soft, the problem may still be Damage or Range rather than mutation identity — send gems through Gem Spending Planner before burning another Void or Shadow pack.

Void, Venom, Shadow, and Reversion only look confusing when you spend them without a keeper plan. Define the plant job first, match the fruit second, and leave Reversion sealed until a real mistake needs undoing.

Practical fruit inventory habits

Keep fruits sorted by urgency. Void and Venom often drive offensive experiments, Shadow supports control or specialty boards, and Reversion protects you from irreversible mistakes. After redeeming active codes, park rewards instead of panic-applying them during a collapsing wave. Pair this page with the fruits and mutations guide and the fruits priority tier list so every fruit decision reinforces a planned board rather than a random impulse click. If your inventory is cluttered, clear junk merges first so keeper plants are obvious targets.
